Roti, also widely known as Chapati or Phulka, is a simple but essential component of meals in South Asia.

 Simple Ingredients: Roti is traditionally made with only two core ingredients: whole-wheat flour (atta) and water. It contains no leavening agents like yeast or baking soda, hence the term "unleavened."

 Preparation: The dough is kneaded, allowed to rest briefly, and then rolled out very thinly into uniform circles.

 Cooking Method (The Puff): It is cooked in a two-stage process:

First, the dough is quickly cooked on a dry, flat metal griddle called a Tawa.

 Soft Texture: Roti is known for its soft, flexible texture and neutral, slightly nutty flavor, making it ideal for scooping up curries, dals, and sabzis (vegetable dishes).

 Serving: It is traditionally eaten fresh and hot, often brushed with a light layer of ghee (clarified butter) or butter.
